The deadly citrus tree disease Huanglongbing (HLB) has continued to spread in Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside counties, prompting a reminder for residents to inspect their citrus trees.
As of last month, more than 1,650 HLB-infected trees have been detected and removed from these areas. The Citrus Pest & Disease Prevention Program (CPDPP) is continuing to ask all California residents – 60% of whom own citrus trees – to protect state citrus and their backyard citrus trees by searching for signs of HLB and the pest that can carry and spread HLB, the Asian citrus psyllid.

While HLB is not harmful to humans, there is no cure and once a citrus tree is infected it will die.
