More Businesses Close in Ladera Ranch 2017

LADERA RANCH, CA — It may be the start of a new year, but management company Westar Associates confirmed on Tuesday that Cinnamon Productions in Ladera's Mercantile West shopping center has closed.

"While we hate to see any tenant close, the success of our restaurants and retailers is reflective of customer’s ever-changing tastes and preferences," said Costa Mesa-based Westar Associates Director of Media Ally Ellison, CMD.

Cinnamon Productions held a nearly seven-year run as an anchor tenant in Mercantile West, an upscale shopping center that's home to Gelson's, Casa Ranchero, Kumon and Legends Ladera Salon.

"The bakery and sit-down restaurant held court to families after AYSO Region 1455 (Ladera Ranch) soccer games, lunch dates for new Moms (the restaurant had plenty of stroller space), general meet-ups and more," Amy Spurgeon Hoffman, a resident of Ladera Ranch said.

Loving Hut Vegan restaurant just closed the first of the year.

"Rent is too high. We tried to have Westar lower the rent but they wouldn't do negotiations," said Loving Hut owner Phoon said. "We are very sad for our very loyal customers. We loved Ladera Ranch. We loved the people here, but we have no choice, Westar was just not easy to communicate with."
