It's official: the Mission Viejo Nadadores senior dive team has won the 2013 western zone championships held this weekend in Tucson, Ariz.
Both men's and women's teams won based on team points in each of their categories. Nadadores won top team points overall as well.
In diving, seniors typically includes divers between the ages of 14 and 30.
The championship at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center pitted Nadadores against divers from California, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Washington, Montana, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska and Colorado, according to event coordinator Mikela Calabrese.
The team's next major challenge will be Senior Nationals held on Aug. 13-18 in Iowa City, Iowa.
