The Mission Viejo, Saddleback Valley Elks welcomed six (6) new members in June. They were Mission Viejo residents Robert Lank, Greg Oppedisano, Chris Spicer, Kevin Tobey, and John Fleri. Also initiated was Michael Cohen of Aliso Viejo. Lodge President Derek Randles presided over the Elks time-honored ritual of initiation. The new members took the oath of membership, pledging to participate in the many Elks sponsored charitable endeavors. Past State Vice President and Lodge Bingo manager Harvey Boelts announced to the new members and all in attendance, the Lodges participation in the Orange Coast District program "Boxes for the Military." Boelts said the Mission Viejo, Saddleback Valley Lodge joined with the other nine Lodges in Orange County in filling boxes with needed goods for our service men and women overseas. He thanked the members and the people of the community who supported the effort through the Lodge's Elks Charity Committee which donated $500 to the program.
The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge No. 2444, celebrating forty-four (44) years of service to the Saddleback Valley communities, is one of ten lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 146 year history of giving, “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
