OC Triathlon, School Safety Up For Debate At City Council Meeting

MISSION VIEJO, CA — The Mission Viejo City Council will recognize the city’s top employees and consider school safety plans, arts programming and a major sporting event at its upcoming meeting.

Council members will honor the 2025 Mission Viejo Employee of the Year, Mission Viejo Police Services’ Employee of the Year and the Orange County Fire Authority Mission Viejo Employee of the Year.

The council will also consider awarding a contract, funded by a federal Safe Streets for All grant, to develop pedestrian and bicycle safety plans for 19 public K-12 schools.

Also on the agenda is a proposed agreement with Pacific Symphony for several performances scheduled this year, including a Symphony on the Go event, a performance in the Jeronimo Tunnel, a sensory-friendly concert and the return of Prelude in the Park and Symphony in the Cities.

In addition, council members will consider authorizing the 2026 Orange County Multisport Festival, formerly known as the Orange County International Triathlon, to take place in Mission Viejo for the 18th year.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10. The business portion begins at 6 p.m. in the council chamber at 200 Civic Center.
