Olympic Skier Bode Miller's Toddler Drowns In OC Pool

"Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this," the 40-year-old Olympian said about his daughter on Instagram.

MISSION VIEJO, CA – Olympian Bode Miller's youngest child, 19-month-old Emeline Grier Miller died after drowning in a pool in Coto de Caza, Calif. on Saturday.

Miller's wife, professional beach volleyball player Morgan Beck Miller, was visiting a neighbor's home and their daughter somehow ended up in a pool, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi told Patch. They had arrived at the "home of a neighbor for a visit, and after a few moments the mother realized her daughter wasn't in sight anymore, Concialdi said, and she "immediately ran outside and found the child in the pool."

Paramedics were rushed to the scene and performed CPR before transporting the baby to a nearby hospital, where she wasn't able to be resuscitated, Concialdi said.

“We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this,” the 40-year-old Olympian said on Instagram Monday. “Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday."

Miller, who was not present during the incident, requested privacy for his family during this painful time. In November 2016, Miller and his wife had their second child together. On April 1, the couple announced they were expecting their third child, PEOPLE reported.
