Community Corner
Orange County Senior Health & Fitness Day Challenge.
Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016 in the front (by the flag and veterans monuments) of Norman P. Murray Community Center.

The Orange County Senior Citizens Advisory Council has challenged seniors to walk, jog or bike on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016.
The SCAC advises the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Office on Aging on matters such as health, nutrition, housing and transportation affecting senior citizens in Orange County. The council consists of volunteers, elected officials, people with leadership experience and health care representatives.
The challenge is on for Mission Viejo to have the most participants. You can join seniors on October 12 at 8am to walk. We will meet in the front (by the flag and veterans monuments) of Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.

The Walkie Talkies will lead the walk. They are a group of walkers that have been meeting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 am in front of Norman P. Murray for more than 20 years regardless of rain, shine or holiday. They walk the various paths on the Oso Creek Trail.
What is nice about walking with the group, you can pick your pace and chat. We know people walk at different speeds so we always re-group under the trees. At the end of the walk we meet in the community center for coffee or tea and snacks. Please join us anytime.

Oso Creek Trail is nestled between La Paz and Jeronimo just off Marguerite Parkway. The trail is abundant with wildlife and covered in eucalyptus, oaks, palms, pines and sycamores. It is landscaped with elderberries, roses, pampas grass, willows and other drought resistant plants.
If you aren’t able to join us or you prefer to jog or cycle, don’t forget to go to the front desk at Norman Murray Community Center and get a form we can send to the OC Senior Citizens Advisory Council.
The benefits exercising are too numerous to list.
