World’s Best ”Eater” Sets Record July 4th at Paul’s Pantry MV

Paul's Pantry Holds 5th Annual Fourth of July Cinnamon Roll Eating Contest Today; First Time Professional Eater Participates and Sets Record

(Mission Viejo, Ca) – Local favorite Paul’s Pantry of Mission Viejo got the Fourth of July party started early this morning with its growing-in-popularity 5th Annual Cinnamon Roll Eating Contestthat drew its first official “professional eater” to the competition– Sacramento’s fierce equally feared well-known eating competitor Molly Schuyler, who devoured 19 massive Paul’s Pantry Cinnamon Rolls drenched in icing to beat out the boys and take home the $1,000 grand prize. (The boys were pretty impressed too!)

“She’s a beast…a monster,” laughed the former reigning Paul’s Pantry Cinnamon Roll Contest Champ and All-Time Paul’s Pantry Cinnamon Roll Consuming Record holder Naader Reda, who was the most kind, polite and good-hearted losing Cinnamon Roll Champ ever. “I ate 12 today, which was a lot better than last year’s record setting nine that I ate.”

“I would have needed another stomach,” Reda said when asked what he would have needed to eat seven more cinnamon rolls to tie the leader Schuyler. But it was all in good, clean fun and these eating competitors see each other on the eating contest circuit from time to time.

“Congratulations Molly!,” Reda said. “We have done a lot of contests together. She is an amazing competitor. One of the best in the world.”

“There’s no shame in losing to Molly,” Reda said in earnest. “She is one of the best!”

The contest’s standing room only crowd of all ages and backgrounds stood, sat, cheered and clapped while dressed in red, white and blue on the oversized outdoor patio of Paul’s Pantry located at 27409 Bellogente #B, Mission Viejo, 92691. The one-hour competition got underway at 9 am. with clear, sunny summer skies and a slight off-shore breeze from the ten-mile out Pacific Ocean. A beautiful crisp American Flag waved in the distance at the nearby Mission Montessori school. Signature Southern California Palm Trees lined the streets to cap off the picturesque Orange County, Ca scene, known for flip flops, board shorts, sunglasses – and now Cinnamon Rolls.

“Go, go, go!” the crowd screamed as the event’s energetic and equally entertaining MC George “O” called the 2-minute warning to competitors. The entire audience counted down out loud the last 10-seconds with George “O”. It was a countdown to rival any great New Year’s Eve party.

Online eating blogs said some of the contestants registered this year included: Aaron Ybarra, Naader Reda, Molly Schuyler, Raina Huang and Edward Chin; however, many others were on hand today.

Paul’s Pantry is a family-friendly restaurant open for breakfast and lunch every day. Menu options include American staples such as Buttermilk Pancakes and Eggs, Buttermilk Biscuits smothered in Country Gravy and Paul’s Pantry World Famous Cinnamon Roll French Toast.

However, everyone knows its Paul’s Pantry Cinnamon Rolls (baked on the premises) for just $2.95 that makes the restaurant a worthwhile road-trip from wherever you are. These fresh, warm, homemade, over-sized soft Cinnamon Rolls come with soft whipped butter and homemade icing. Just one of these delicacies could feed up to two people easily – so one person consuming 19 of these MASSIVE (but delicious!) Cinnamon Rolls in 12-minutes is truly outstanding. Jaw-open-on-the-floor-outstanding.

“SHE’S AT 19!!!,” George “O” screamed into the microphone after the judges tallied the rolls consumed. The crowd joined George “O” in cheers. “OH MY GOODNESS!!!”

“19!!!!!! WHAT!!!” George “O” said in true disbelief. “Oh my goodness!!!”

“There’s a reason she struck fear in the hearts of these guys when she showed up,” George “O” said. “19!!!! WHOOO!!!”

It was a fascinating, never to be forgotten Paul’s Pantry moment today. Everyone will remember the Fourth of July that Schuyler rolled into town and destroyed the competition with her record setting 19 Cinnamon Rolls. Schuyler flew in for today’s competition from Washington D.C. where she won $1,500 for eating the most hamburgers at a separate competition. 27 hamburgers to be exact.

And no MC could have been more perfect for today’s event than George “O”. He kept the crowd on their toes and helped inspire a treasured moment in the community’s collective memory as he announced the winner.

“AND ANNIHILATING THE FIELD…IN FIRST PLACE…GIVE IT UP FOR MOLLY SCHUYLER!!!,” George “O” announced excitedly to a celebratory crowd.

Paul’s Cinnamon Roll Contest is picking up a local following thanks to eating competition blogs promoting the event such as http://eatfeats.com/ and https://www.evensi.us/.
