The Pet Rescue Center Awarded $5000 from Banfield Charitable Trust

Mission Viejo Non-Profit receives grant for its Pet Pantry For Seniors & Unemployed

Mission Viejo, Calif. – The Pet Rescue Center has received a $5,000 Grant from the Banfield Charitable Trust (BCT), which will help fund its Pet Pantry For Seniors & The Unemployed for the coming year, a program designed to help struggling pet owners keep their pets. The Mission Viejo-based non-profit will use the funds received, along with donations from local retailers, to provide pet food, cat litter, and other pet-related products to local pet owners who qualify for their program.

“We are very pleased to receive this grant from Banfield Charitable Trust,” explained Jan Henry, Director of Development for The Pet Rescue Center. “This is the third year BCT has provided funding for Pet Pantry, which is much-needed as our program has tripled since it began in 2012. We are currently providing food for about 150 pets each month.”

The Pet Rescue Center also donates pet food to South County Outreach in Lake Forest, when it has a surplus, which is then dispensed through their Food Pantry program. Donations for Pet Pantry are received from Target in Aliso Viejo, Russo’s Pet Center in Laguna Niguel, and Pet Country, Omar’s Exotic Birds, and PetSmart in Lake Forest. Pet food and other items are also donated by local youth and school service groups. Pet Pantry is also sponsored in part by RUFF (ruffrescue.org).
