Police Warn Against Rise In Vehicle Break-Ins At Parks
Authorities reported an uptick in vehicle break-ins at local sports parks in Mission Viejo Friday. What to know.
MISSION VIEJO, CA — Mission Viejo residents were urged to remain on high alert, after an uptick of car break-ins at local sports parks was reported by the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Residents were reminded to lock their vehicles, especially when parking in public places.

- Always locking car doors.
- Rolling up windows and taking keys with you.
- Removing valuables and visible items before leaving your vehicle.
- Setting your car alarm.
- Never leave your vehicle running while unattended.
"Avoid leaving anything in the car — almost any item that is visible from the outside could be seen as valuable to a thief," an OCSD statement read. "Sunglasses, loose change, or a bag could be perceived as valuable."
