Relay For Life of Mission Viejo Kickoff- Margot Ferron

The American Cancer Society’s, Relay for Life of Mission Viejo, kickoff will be held on Sat, Feb. 1, 2014 at 10 am at The Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. 

The 20th Relay For Life/Mission Viejo will get underway as event volunteers and participants rally to launch fundraising efforts for the year.  The Kick-off will feature Hero of Hope Speaker, Le Ann Taylor from the Relay community.   

This will be an opportunity to register a team for the 24-hour, overnight event held at Saddleback College on Sat., June 7 at 9 am until Sun., June 8 at 9 am. Anyone interested in forming a team, volunteering for the event or learning more about Relay for Life is encouraged to attend.

The American Cancer Society’s, Relay for Life, the world’s largest fundraising event brings communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember their loved ones lost and provide participants with an opportunity to make a difference. 

Families, friends, businesses, youth groups and others unite to further the American Cancer Society’s vision of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

In fact, Mission Viejo has participated since 1994 and reached a milestone- $2 million dollars raised.   In 2013, they raised more than $175,000 and received five awards.   They are the #1 Relay in Orange County.  

At the event the National American Cancer Society’s, Terry Zahn Award for Excellence in Communications/Marketing/Publicity will be awarded.    Three of these awards are given in the United States each year.

The breakfast is free to the public.  Enjoy a morning of entertainment, food, music and door prizes.  Bagels & Brew, Royal Donuts and Sprouts are just a few of the sponsors of the event.
