The project’s objective is to extend the pavement’s life expectancy, upgrade lighting and signage panels as well as drainage systems. In addition to the improvements along the freeway, the Caltrans project includes various traffic signal and lane configuration modifications including the addition of bike lanes along Oso Parkway between Cabot Road and the I-5 northbound off-ramp. When completed, Oso Parkway will be configured for three vehicle lanes and a bike lane in each direction.

As part of their initial construction staging, Caltrans has removed a lane in each direction along Oso Parkway within the project limits. The City of Mission Viejo is currently working with Caltrans to provide feedback about traffic-related concerns resulting from the current traffic control layout.
