​Salute to Veterans! ​

Join us on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at 2 pm at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way, MV 92691.

The City of Mission Viejo will recognize veterans on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at 2 pm at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way, MV 92691.

The U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters Battalion First Marine Division will provide the Color Guard, rifle salute and taps. In addition, Commander of the Battalion, Colonel Carlos O. Urbina and Retired Captain, Pete Seitz will be the keynote speakers.

Mission Viejo’s Marine Adoption Committee adopted the Headquarters Battalion First Marine Division. The committee provides year-round support by providing emergency financial assistance, gowns for wives and female marines, host baby showers, annual “Day at Lake Mission Viejo” and weekly care packages to our deployed troops.

Musical entertainment will be performed by Dawn Wright, the “famed voice” of the Los Angeles Angels and the Anaheim Ducks.

Resident, Bill F. Locke will be recognized as Mission Viejo Veteran of 2016. The City honor is designed to recognize those who served our country and continue to serve the community.

Locke enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves as a radar operator. He received several awards including the Korean Service Ribbon, the United Nations Korean Medal with 4 stars and others.
