Senior Woman Found Dead In Mission Viejo Home, Husband Detained

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A woman in her 80s was found dead under "suspicious circumstances" in her Mission Viejo home Tuesday afternoon, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The incident was initially reported at a home in the 28000 block of Via Arriaga. Authorities who arrived to the scene determined the circumstances behind the woman's death were suspicious, and began an investigation into a possible homicide, authorities said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond for comment.

The woman's husband, also in his 80s, was detained by deputies but had not been placed under arrest as of Tuesday evening, the Orange County Register reported.

The identity of the woman was not released pending next of kin notification.
