Shame On Mimi Walters for Being Deceptive in Her Effort to Win The 2014 Election by Printing Misleading Information

A Letter from Veterans for Greg Raths for Congress

Dear California 45th Congressional District Voters,

In the 2014 Congressional election, Mimi Walters’ campaign sent out mailers just prior to election day accusing her fellow Republican opponent, Greg Raths, of being a “Clinton Republican” since he worked in The White House during the second term of the Clinton Administration. This accusation was an unfair fabrication and there was insufficient time to respond with the truth.

Greg Raths was a Colonel in the Marine Corps who was assigned by the Pentagon to be the Deputy Chief of Staff of the White House Military Office, a prestigious military assignment. The Military Office supports the Commander-in-Chief, executive cabinet members, and senior members of Congress with military logistical support, specifically transportation. An assignment such as this is a prestigious honor that recognizes the intelligence and leadership ability of the appointee and affirms the confidence of the senior leadership of the Department of Defense in the individual given this very significant responsibility.

In all versions of Mimi Walters’ mailers, no mention was made that Greg Raths was on active duty and on military orders for his assignment at the White House. All of the pictures on the mailers were of Greg not in uniform. In one picture, Greg’s wife, Luci, was shown standing next to Hillary Clinton and the caption lead the viewer to believe the Raths were close friends of the Clintons. The picture was taken at a White House Christmas party where all members of the Military Office and their families were invited.

For Mimi Walters to besmirch Colonel Raths based upon a blatant distortion of truth and facts is a smear campaign that is out of the left-wing Democrat political handbook. Either she doesn’t understand the military and how it works or she deliberately took this despicable and underhanded approach to win the election.

For Mimi Walters’ lack of character and integrity; using deception and not running on the issues, she does not represent Republican values and should not represent the 45th District in Congress.
