From dusk to dawn with the current energy efficient lights, the sidewalks and street are dangerous to public safety. Even with a full moon the visibility is very poor and without a moon it is pitch black. For older adults, dog walkers, children, persons with disabilities, it is a challenge. In fact, you can’t see where you are walking in some places- where is the curb and where is the street? This is a safety concern for anyone in the area.

We need to be safe when out at night and the only way to ensure this is add more lights. In addition, there are many outer lying areas with large trees and bushes that are pitch dark. These are perfect hiding places for burglars, robbers and carjackers.
Patrons and citizens are not safe walking to their cars after dark. If you can’t make this meeting, please go to www.cityofmissionvieojo.org. Once you are on the website go to city services, click and you will see the mayor and each of the council members. Email each of them and let them know your concerns about this lighting problem.
