Simis Family Wins the 4th of July ‘Save My Spot’ Drawing
Next Fourth of July is going to be a special day for the Simis family, a family of six who have lived in Ladera Ranch for twelve years.
Next Fourth of July is going to be a special day for the Simis family, a family of six who have lived in Ladera Ranch for twelve years. Why? Because as winners of the Fourth of July ‘Save My Spot’ Drawing, the family will get to sleep in knowing that their favorite spot in Founder’s Park will be saved for them and four others to enjoy the day of festivities including the spectacular 4th of July firework show.
When asked about the family plans for July 4th, 2017, Jen Simis said, “We’re planning on sleeping in. Well, wait, actually we might just have to witness the traditional 6 a.m. holiday dash!”
The Simis family are early risers on the fourth. Each family member runs in the 5K / 10K race in the morning. They meet for the pancake breakfast after the run and then stop to watch the parade as they walk home.
“Our favorite thing about the 4th of July festivities here in Ladera is the sense of community we have. We love seeing all of our friends and neighbors. The kids take off in different directions to meet up with their friends and then everyone meeting back at our blanket for the fireworks” notes Simis.
Other family Independence Day traditions include entertaining family from Carmel, running the 5K/10K race in the morning, relaxing by the pool, visits at the neighborhood block party, meeting on the sofa to watch “The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest from Coney Island" then it’s back down to Founder’s Park to listen to the band, enjoy some dancing, and some singing (it wouldn’t be 4th of July without singing along to Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’!).
The Save My Spot 4th of July Drawing was a joint promotion between LARCS and LARMAC to build up the resident email list as they work towards the development of the new LaderaLife website that will launch in late 2016.
