Slain UPS Driver ID'd As South OC Man; Suspect Arrested In Shooting

The 50-year-old Aliso Viejo man was working at his job as a UPS driver when he was shot to death in his vehicle.

IRVINE, CA — A 46-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested for the murder of a UPS driver in South Orange County, Irvine police said.

Police were dispatched to the area of Fleming and Chrysler in Irvine on Friday, May 17, after multiple reports of gunfire were made to the Irvine Police Department.

Upon arriving, officers found a UPS driver "slumped over" in the driver's seat of his delivery truck with multiple bullet wounds. Officers began life-saving measures, but the victim died of his injuries at the scene.

He was identified as 50-year-old Expedito Cuesta De Leon, of Aliso Viejo. The suspected gunman was arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday and has since been identified as 46-year-old Rhean Fontanoza.

According to police, De Leon and Fontanoza knew each other, though the nature of their relationship was unclear.
