“Songs and Shades of Summer”- Margot Ferron

Back by popular demand, members of Lion’s Heart will share their love of music by performing for seniors this summer on Wednesdays at 11:45 am, during their lunchtime at the Norman P. Murray Center, 24932 Veterans Way, MV, 92692.   Each Wednesday starting July 24 through the end of August songs will be played on the guitar, piano, saxophone, violin and viola.

“It is an opportunity to enrich our senior’s lives and provide musical enjoyment for them, plus it welcomes the chance to help the development of our young musicians,” says Hazel Fenn, Site Manager of Age Well Senior Services.

Lion's Heart is a community service organization for boys and girls in grades 6-12 in Orange County and nationally.  Each group elects their own officers that lead meetings and decide how to serve the community.

“Songs and Shades of Summer” was created and coordinated by Margot Ferron, volunteer for Age Well Senior Services. This is not the first time they have worked with Ferron.  In the past, the organization has made cookies and cards for Halloween, Valentines Day and Mothers Day for Age Well Senior Services.

“It is a match made in heaven.   The seniors love it and the kids are building their musical skills and confidence.   Lion’s Heart is again sprinkling a touch of magic in their community,” said Ferron busting with pride.

“Members of Lions Heart in Mission Viejo and the surrounding area have eagerly volunteered more than  170,000 hours in their community,” according to Terry Corwin, co-founder.

Music is so powerful in many ways – it can lift our spirits, sooth and spark many emotions.  This is just one way to show our seniors we haven’t forgotten them.  Again, Lion’s Heart showed they have strong hearts.
