South OC Senior Day Postponed Over Coronavirus Fears
The annual senior day celebration scheduled for Friday in Mission Viejo will be delayed due to "social distancing practices."
MISSION VIEJO, CA — It was out of an abundance of caution that Sen. Patricia Bates and Assemblyman Bill Brough say they are postponing their annual South Orange County Senior Day.
The annual event was set for Friday, March 13, in Mission Viejo.
According to Bates, given that the federal Centers for Disease Control and the California Department of Public Health are advising older adults to avoid crowds as much as possible, it was time to put the event on the back burner.

Senator Bates and Assemblyman Brough issued the following joint statement:
“While we regret that Senior Day will not take place on March 13, we have no regrets about protecting the health and safety of our Orange County seniors. We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution given the information we currently have about the coronavirus. It is our hope that Senior Day can be rescheduled later this year.”
