If you are looking for something to do this weekend, look no further. The Friends of the Arts are hosting an evening with Kevin Kern and Louis Landon, Steinway piano artists on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 from 7-9 pm in the Saddleback Room at City Hall, 200 Civic Center, Mission Viejo, 92629.
You don’t want to miss this playful back and forth rendition that not only will it tickle the ivories, it will your excite your soul.
Kern and Landon will perform original compositions and jazz standards combined with storytelling and humor.

Kevin Kern is a native of Detroit, MI. Kern began playing the piano at the eighteen-months-old. Legally blind since birth, he developed a love of improvisation and appreciation for the piano.
Kern refers to his solo pieces as “sound paintings.” He uses the piano to create musical scenes such as “After the Rain” or “A Million Stars.”

He has toured throughout the US and Asia. Some of his credits include The Late Show with David Letterman, Live with Regis and Kelly, NBC’s coverage of the 2000 Summer Olympics, Oprah as well as commercials for Blue Cross and Mitsubishi.

Louis Landon was born in Yonkers, NY. Landon started playing piano when he was four-years-old. It wasn’t until Landon sat down and played the theme song for the movie “Around the World in 80 Days” from memory that his parents decided to have him take piano lessons.
Through his Dad’s professional associations, Landon grew up having Sunday dinners and going back stage to meet stars such as Nat King Cole. Later he was a keyboard player for the John Hall Band which led to playing with Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Crosby, Stills and Nash.
He has written and produced music for commercials, film and video. His current mission is to bring peace and healing to the world through music.
