Talking about suicide, never hurt anyone.
When you're feelings are too big and overwhelming, TALK TO SOMEONE!

Parents of tweenies and teenagers please read!
I want to share my insights about suicide and to encourage a dialogue with your child who might be hurting right now. Reach out and ask them questions about their thoughts and plans.
Ask them specifically "are you having thoughts or making plans to hurt yourself right now" If they say yes, that is when you call 911 or go to the ER. If they say no, then ask them "what are you thinking about?" Give them the open door to talk out what's going on. Be proactive! Let them know that they can come to you with these big overwhelming, stinky, crap stained feelings. Ask them "can I be your GO-TO person when you are having these thoughts?"

And let them know this...
When depression hits hard, our FEELINGS want to take control of our ACTIONS.
But guess what? Feelings don't always tell the truth! They LIE! All. The. Time.

I FEEL ugly - LIE!
I FEEL unlovable. - LIE!
I FEEL like a loser. - LIE!
I FEEL like I have no friends. - LIE!
I FEEL like the world will be better off without me. - THIS IS THE BIGGEST LIE OF ALL!
Suicide is a PERMANENT solution to a TEMPORARY problem. The pain in your head, your heart, your guts...it is OVERWHELMING and YOU JUST WANT IT TO END! But guess what? It will. It can. It does.
Take a deep breath.
Call someone. Anyone. Tell them what's going on *not an Insta or SnapChat post...an actual conversation!
TALKING ABOUT SUICIDE PLANS NEVER HURT ANYONE!
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or psycholgist. I am a person with a diagnosis of depression and ADHD. I have teenagers and a very kind and supportive husband. I also have a go-to person when my depression is really bad.
