Mission Viejo, CA – In collaboration with Mission Viejo Police Services and California Alcoholic Beverage Control (CA ABC), the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence – Orange County hosted a training for alcohol retailers in the city of Mission Viejo.

Retailers who sell alcohol were invited to learn the laws surrounding selling alcohol and effective ways to reduce alcohol sales to minors.  Mission Viejo requires this training as part of the conditional use permit that stores obtain when initially opening their business, but many of the retailers who have had their business for some time in Mission Viejo were there voluntarily, wanting to do their part to contribute to a safer Mission Viejo.

The mission of the LEAD (Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs) Program, presented by CA ABC, is to make available high quality, effective and educationally sound training on alcohol responsibility and the law to all California retail licensees, applicants, and their employees.  The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control expects and encourages licensees to act responsibly relative to their ABC license privileges.  The LEAD Program provides practical information on how to sell and serve alcohol safely, responsibly and legally, and prevent illicit drug activity.
