Today is the 63rd National Day of Prayer

The 63rd National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May each year.  Initially, the United States Congress designated this day for people to turn to God in meditation and prayer.

More than 35 churches will join together for this special evening to be held on May 1, 2014 at the Civic Center, 200 Civic Center, Mission Viejo, CA from 7- 8 pm.   There is no cost to attend this event.

All Christians in the Saddleback area are invited to unite in worship and an evening of prayer.   Pastors from various local churches and denominations will pray for God to bless our community, our leaders and our country.  The service is held in many different languages.

Traditionally, the President of the United States signs a proclamation encouraging Americans to pray on this day.  It wasn’t until June 14, 1954 that President Eisenhower signed into law, “under God” officially adding the words into the Pledge of Allegiance.

What a wonderful way to take time out of our busy lives and unite in faith.  May peace, love and strength lift our leaders, communities, military, government and families.
