Trabuco Hills High School Shelters During Supposed Weapons Threat

Trabuco Hills High School was told to shelter in place, Thursday, due to an OC Crimestoppers tip of a student with a weapon on campus.

MISSION VIEJO, CA —An anonymous tip led Trabuco Hills High School to shelter in place, Thursday, the Mission Viejo Police Services division of Orange County Sheriff's Department reported over Facebook. The tip came in at around 2 p.m. and was over shortly thereafter.

According to a high school spokesperson, this was a precautionary shelter in place that lasted for about 15 minutes.

After receiving an OC Crimestopper tip that a student might be near the campus with a weapon, the OCSD and Trabuco Hills High School staff followed protocol to shelter students during the search.

School resources officers searched the school and nearby areas, however no suspect was found, according to a police services spokesperson.

The order to shelter was lifted shortly after the search was completed, they said.

"Again, this was a tip," they reminded. The subject was not seen by officers or teachers during the campus wide search.
