Please join us at Norman Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo at 4 pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Sycamore Rooms to honor and remember, Jerry Silverstein who passed away on December 7, 2016.

Enjoy a tea with desserts and light refreshments hosted by his family. Reminisce, share your treasured moments (you may even want to write them down for his family) and photos. If you have a favorite dessert you ‘d like to share …that would be great. I know quite a few of you are bakers.

Jerry was a volunteer’s, volunteer. He was always there to lend a hand and rub his positive attitude off on everyone he meets. He was a member of the Mission Viejo Senior Activities Committee, a member of the Chorale at Casa Del Sol, a member of The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Mission Viejo where he was Chair of Luminaria for five years and he volunteered more than a thousand hours in Mission Viejo.

He was the epitome of patriotism and supported our local Marines.

At Relay for Life, he’d often played “Amazing Grace” on his harmonica to honor his wife. ACS Relay For Life Mission Viejo honored him with the Candy Bar Award, “Sugar Daddy” for being the Sweetest Inspiration and Leader. The City of Mission Viejo honored him with the California Parks and Recreation Award.

Through his various positions he would collect can goods to donate to the South County Outreach to feed the less fortunate. To encourage donations, he designed a “Can Car”. Every Monday he screened movies for everyone at the community center.

Further using his creativity, Jerry would make dioramas….for various activities, themes or gifts to honor friends. They are incredible with so many dimensions.

He would layer scenes using different materials such as paper, sand, shells, buttons…. almost anything that would enhance his masterpieces.

In lieu of flowers, you can make your donations to the family that will donate to Jerry’s favorite charities, make a donation to Jerry’s team for Relay For Life Mission Viejo (http://mainevents.org/goto/jerryandbarbarasilverstar) or perhaps bring a can good or make a donation in Jerry’s name for South County Outreach Food Pantry.

If you are coming, please let me know. I will see you there!
