Jake Park, 17, of Mission Viejo is the latest from Boy Scout Troop 661 to ascend to the lofty rank of Eagle Scout. While progressing through the ranks, Jake earned 36 merit badges. For his Eagle Scout community service project Jake worked with the Pet Rescue Center within The Alicia Pet Care Center in Mission Viejo. This is an animal hospital that has an adjoining pet rescue center that rescues, treats, fund raises, educates community, has a pet food pantry, and organizes adoptions for their animals. Jake first met with the Director of Operations and the Education Coordinator of The Pet Rescue Center to determine their needs.
Jake’s project consisted of making 35 handmade fleece blankets in a variety of sizes to make a difference in the lives of the animals until they find their forever homes. In addition, he made a total of 80 toys; soft chew toys and durable tug toys to enable exercise, play and social interaction with the staff and volunteers. He also presented The Pet Rescue Center with a check for the amount of the unused money he collected from his fundraising for the project.
Jake’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held February 27th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Norman P. Murray Center in Mission Viejo.
