Twiggie and Silas Looking for FURever Homes

This week, The Pet Rescue Center is featuring two small Terrier mixes, rescued from the OC Shelter in March.  Both Twiggie and Silas are “Tricolor” with black, white, and tan markings. The dogs are house-trained, up-to-date with shots, and good with kids, cats, and other dogs.

TWIGGIE is a 6 lb,, spayed, 2 year old female Terrier/Chihuahua mix. She was named after her skinny, twig-like, Terrier legs. Twiggie was saved with some of her buddies from  the county shelter in Orange. With so very many Chihuahuas needing homes in Orange County, she was getting skipped by every potential adopter because of a bald spot on her neck. Her previous home did not provide flea control which made her very itchy. Sometimes she was so itchy she would scratch herself raw. Now she feels fantastic! It is amazing what good food, warm baths, and flea prevention can do to a girl!  She has been happy at The PRC, but is ready to find the right home. She is a really funny girl, and loves like to play, cuddle, and kiss! Come meet her and see just how unique she is. You won’t find another girl quite as special as her!

NOTE: Twiggie has had one-half of her adoption fee donated…so the cost to adopt her is reduced to $150.00.

SILAS is a 6yr old, neutered male Rat Terrier mix, weighing about 15 lbs. He was found as a stray dog and dropped off at the OC Animal Shelter. His owners never came to claim him, and he was facing euthanasia when The PRC rescued him.  He was very scared and shy at the county shelter and was not showing his true personality. Since coming to The Pet Rescue Center, he feels safe, loved, and is much happier than before. He is going to be a perfect dog for the right family. He is quiet, mellow, cuddly, and very smart. Silas has a clean bill of health and a lot of love to give. Please come down and meet with him and see if he is the boy for you!

All interested parties must fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed to find the best possible match for the pet and for the interested family. Pets are visited by appointment only, but times are flexible. Please email Casey Oliver, Director of Operations, at The Pet Rescue Center, at adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org to arrange a meeting time. The adoption fee is $300 for dogs and $150 for cats, and includes spay/neuter, microchip, flea treatment, deworming, regular veterinary check-ups, and current vaccinations. This fee helps to defray the costs of medical care, supplies, and boarding while the animals are in their care.

The Pet Rescue Center, located inside Alicia Pet Care Center in Mission Viejo, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes pets saved from euthanasia at high-kill shelters and other at-risk situations. These pets are provided with a veterinarian-supervised, temporary sanctuary, while they work to find an adopting family for them. They have successfully saved and adopted out more than 600 dogs and cats in the past five years.
