Two Dogs Perish in Mission Viejo Morning Fire

A house fire in Mission Viejo claimed the lives of two pets according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

MISSION VEIJO, CA — A fire at a Mission Viejo house Monday killed two dogs, authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the 27300 block of Padilla just before 6:45 a.m.

The fire was reportedly contained to the attic space.

"Twenty-six firefighters were on scene of the blaze, and extinguished the flames in 22 minutes," Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said.

According to Kurtz, two pets expired during the event but it is not clear the cause of the animals' deaths at this time.

No injuries to people were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
