Sheriff's Helicopters Seek Missing Women In Mission Viejo

Helicopters circled Thursday morning as officers sought two senior women, both with dementia, who wandered from their homes.

MISSION VIEJO, CA —Two missing women were sought Thursday morning in Mission Viejo, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Two OCSD helicopters circled the Linda Vista park area, one seeking an 83-year-old woman "suffering from dementia" who was last seen near the 2600 block of Pepita Drive.

Police began seeking the woman at around 7:30 a.m. She was located and returned to her residence as of 9:30 a.m.

A second missing person, a 78-year-old woman, was also reported Thursday morning.

Police helicopters searched the 2300 block of Via Bonalde and surrounding areas for the woman, who was found at 9:15 a.m.

"The second missing person call came in at 8:40 a.m., but this woman was found first," Mission Viejo's Watch Commander Lt. Cope told Patch.
