Irvine, CA  - A 24-year-old man who allegedly broke through a locked door of an apartment on the UC Irvine campus and exposed himself to a resident inside was arrested today.

Ryan Chong of Costa Mesa was arrested by UC Irvine police about 2 p.m. on suspicion of burglary and indecent exposure, according to Cathy Lawhon, UCI's senior director of media relations & publications.

"The arrest was made without incident in Irvine, and it came after members of the community responded to a press report released by UCIPD Thursday that included a photo of the suspect that the victim managed to take during the intrusion on Wednesday," Lawhon said.

Just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, a female student told campus police that a man had broken through a locked screen door of her apartment, UCI officials reported.

The student heard the intruder in the living room, and then moments later he exposed himself to her in the campus apartment's bedroom, officials said. The student chased the suspect out of the apartment, but not before getting a photo.
