Upcoming O.C. Forum Addresses Teen-Dating Violence

Abuse during adolescence may be more common than you think. The Mission Viejo presentation is open to Orange County parents and teenagers.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A presentation next week in Mission Viejo, geared toward parents, guardians and teenagers, will address unhealthy adolescent relationships and preventing teen-dating violence.

Hosted by Laura's House, an Orange County domestic-violence agency, the City of Mission Viejo and the local police, the event will be Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Center at 24935 Veterans Way and is open to Orange county residents.

"In Orange County, one in four adolescents (boys and girls) is in a physically abusive relationship," according to the Laura's House web site aimed at teens.

The upcoming forum is designed to explore bad relationship indicators, trends and the varying forms abuse can take, along with red-flag warning signs for parents, organizers said.

Laura’s House representatives and School Resource Officer Amber Delcambre will address the group, and the session will be followed by a Q&A.
