Windy Fire Burning Along Northbound 241 Freeway, Anaheim Fire

A brush fire known as the "#WindyFire" is burning along Northbound 241 Freeway: Breaking

Fire fighters responded to the scene of a brush fire, reported along the northbound 241 Freeway, Wednesday. Orange County Fire Authority, Anaheim Fire and Rescue, and the City of Orange Fire departments responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. "Ground units are on the scene, and the fire appears to be a small island inside the previous burn area," Anaheim Fire Capt. Daron Wyatt said.

The fire is burning on the northbound 241 Freeway, just north of the Windy Ridge Toll Plaza. According to fire officials, the fire is a small hot spot in a prior burn area, with crews actively putting the fire out.

"Helicopters are en route," Wyatt said. The fire is has been named the #WindyFire on social media. No road closures, evacuations or injuries were reported.

In Anaheim Hills, the excessive heat warning remains in place, with temperatures of approximately 100-degrees. Wind is currently blowing at approximately 5-miles-per-hour according to the National Weather Service.
