Woman Stole More Than $400K From OC High School Football Team, DoJ Says

ALISO VIEJO, CA — An Orange County woman was arrested by the FBI Thursday for stealing more than $400,000 from a boosters organization supporting a high school football team.

The FBI raided 56-year-old Julie Molina's Aliso Viejo home early Thursday morning, KTLA reported.

Prosecutors allege that Molina stole the money while serving as treasurer for the Aliso Niguel High School football team.

She's expected to make her initial appearance and be arraigned later Thursday in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana on four counts of wire fraud, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to prosecutors, from 2023 to November 2026, Molina executed a scheme to defraud the high school football booster club while serving as its treasurer.

She apparently diverted funds from the group's bank account to fund personal expenses, including the delinquent mortgage on her home and credit card bills, officials said.

Prosecutors said Molina wired around $131,523 from the nonprofit's account through Federal Reserve facilities in New Jersey and Texas to an account in Santa Ana to pay off the remaining balance of her mortgage.

To conceal these payments, Molina sent numerous emails to the nonprofit’s board members attaching false treasurer reports that failed to disclose her misappropriation of funds, prosecutors said.

If convicted, Molina would face a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison for each count.
