Young Hawk Stuck In Batting Cage Rescued, Thanks To MVAS

What started as a bad day for this juvenile Cooper's hawk changed for the better after a call to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A juvenile Cooper's hawk's bad lucked changed for the better after it was rescued from an Aliso Viejo batting cage and released into the wild by a Mission Viejo Animal Services officer.

Officers were dispatched to Woodfield Park in Aliso Viejo this week in regard to a bird stuck in a batting cage. According to officers, kids were trying to use the batting cages but were unable to because of the trapped bird.

"Animal Control Officer Julie Forton promptly arrived and found a juvenile Cooper's hawk that had flown into the cage and got trapped in the netting," an MVAS news release read. "She was able to quickly catch the hawk with a hand-net."

The hawk was inspected for injuries before being released by into the wild.
