• Kissing, touching and lewd joke accusations land Hughson mayor in hot water (turlockjournal.com) — A nearby political controversy is unfolding as Hughson Mayor George Carr faces findings from a second independent investigation that sustained accusations of unwanted kissing, touching, and lewd jokes involving a StanRTA employee. The case follows an earlier probe that led to his censure by the Hughson City Council. With Hughson just 10 miles southeast of Modesto, the situation could affect regional transit leadership and local political dynamics.
   

• Modesto man arrested following hit-and-run of bicyclist in Livermore (modbee.com) — A 44-year-old Modesto man was arrested at his Modesto home on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run that seriously injured a bicyclist in Livermore. Livermore police say their investigation identified Brian Callaway as the driver who allegedly struck the cyclist on Isabel Avenue and left without calling for help. The case is now with Alameda County prosecutors for review.
