Aerovironment's Hummingbird Named 'Best of What's New'

The tiny drone designed by a local technology company to look and fly like a hummingbird was singled out as a top invention by "Popular Science" magazine.

A local company's tiny hummingbird spy drone was named the "Best of What's New" by Popular Science magazine on Wednesday.

The hummingbird drone, which looks and , was previously honored by Popular Mechanics magazine with a earlier this year.

Popular Science called the invention "the nimblest hover spy."

"Once the design, which is still in prototype, matures and goes into production, operators could use the Hummingbird on reconnaissance missions in environments where maneuverability inside buildings or around near-ground obstacles, such as huts or tents, is essential," the magazine wrote.
