MONROVIA, CA — A local nonprofit is selling pumpkin and apple pies this Thanksgiving to raise money for school and community garden programs throughout the San Gabriel Valley, including schools in Monrovia, the city said on Friday.
Food ED is working toward a $10,000 annual fundraising goal, with proceeds from its Thanksgiving pie sale going directly toward hands-on garden education for students, as well as plants and soil needed to maintain healthy school gardens, the city said.
The pies are priced at $100 each and will be available for pickup Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, according to the city.
Residents can purchase pies for themselves or their organizations, or donate them to help provide Thanksgiving desserts for local seniors and families in need.
Food ED is also accepting pie donations for the Meals on Wheels Senior Program and Foothill Unity Center, which will distribute the pies as part of their Thanksgiving meal programs.
In addition to pie purchases, cash donations of any amount are welcome to help the organization reach its fundraising goal and continue supporting garden and food science programs.
