API Scores: Monrovia School District Grows Slightly
School tests scores released Wednesday show that Monrovia's School District performed better than last year as a whole, but some elementary schools had scores that fell compared to last year.

The California Department of Education released statewide API scores Wednesday, which serve as an indicator for how students in every public school statewide are performing. Monrovia Unified received an overall API score of 804, which is seven points higher than last year. However, individual school performance varied from a low of 778 at Monrovia High School to a high of 869 for Mayflower Elementary School.
The API score is based on scores from state standardized tests and the California High School Exit Examination. It ranges from a low of 200 to a high of 1000. The state set 800 as their ideal target for all schools.
Monrovia middle schools and the high school all performed better than last year. But, Monrovia High’s score is below the state ideal, coming in at 778.
