Blog: MHS PTSA Membership Drive before 'The' Football Game!

Getting parents and students to become members of the PTSA.

Have you heard about the Football game today at MHS? Of course!! We are all so proud of our Football team, their coach, and their parents, and of course, of Mr. Darvin Jackson for putting it all together!!

Did you know that the MHS PTSA has fewer than 200 members and that only 4 (that is right, four) showed up to our last meeting?

Remember when your children first started Elementary school and it was tons of work with all the fundraisers and the involvement that was needed because our kids were young? As your children become more independent toward their way into adulthood, we still need to support their school and a great way to do so is via the PTSA. We also need your students involved! We are talking about having meetings during lunch time to get the students more engaged.

With a potential of 3,600 members (1800 students and at least one parent) plus faculty of about 85, all pitching in $10 in membership, can you imagine all we can do for ALL students? Plus a few good fundraisers! Last year we were able to donate paper for all classes as well as funding 3 scholarships. There is lots we can do with just a little bit of your money and maybe a couple of hours of your time.

We understand that, as kids become more focused on activities, parents time can also be more restrictive. But fear no more! Sign up for your membership of only $10 and we will make sure we'll make it go a looong way! We have to document where all the money goes, so you'll know too!

We meet every 4th Tuesday at 7pm in the MHS Library. We get the opportunity to hear from our Principal, Mr. Jackson, or from our Associate Principal, Kirk McGinnis, or Sandra Cruz, Assistant Principal. It is a great way to stay informed and to make decisions as to how we can help our kids!

Thank you and our PTSA looks forward to your membership!
