Brush Fire Near Monrovia Chars 3 Acres

The fire went to a second alarm before firefighters got a handle on it.

DUARTE, CA — A fire that went to two alarms burned about three acres of brush Monday in Duarte before crews got the upper hand.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 3:20 p.m. in hilly terrain between Crestview Court and Starcrest Drive, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

At one point, flames were burning toward a hilltop home on Rim Road, but by 4:15 p.m., nearly 200 firefighters appeared to have the bulk of the blaze doused and were hitting hot spots.
