Christmas Events at Lake Avenue Church

During the Christmas season Pasadena’s Lake Avenue Church will sponsor many events, including a Messiah Sing-Along, children’s programs, and candlelight services. These events are:

- O Cookie Town of Bethlehem, Wednesday, December 10, from 6-8 p.m. in FL 300 (Warehouse). Free and fun for families. Use your gingerbread building skills to create a “Town of Bethlehem” from gingerbread cookies. Cookies and frosting provided, you bring candies and decorations. Everyone gets to take home what they make.

- Messiah Sing-Along, Sunday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. in the Worship Center. Sing the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah under the direction of Duane Funderburk and assisted by soloists and chamber symphony. Come early to hear Lake Avenue Children’s Choir perform selections from the “Messiah for Young Voices” at 5:45 p.m. Scores are available to rent or purchase. An offering will be taken. - Posada, Friday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. Join neighborhood families as they lead in a “Posada” in Lake Avenue Church’s west parking Lot. Posada is a short processional re-enactment of Joseph and Mary’s search for lodging on the eve of the birth of the Savior. It will be followed by a dinner of Pozole, Tamales, Champurrado and Buñuelos - all homemade. There will also be a piñata, caroling and crafts and activities for children.

- Christmas Eve Family Candlelight Service, Wednesday Dec. 24, 4 p.m. in the Worship Center. A casual service for the whole family led by the worship team. Childcare for children to three years old available on the first floor of the Family Life Center.

- Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, Wednesday Dec. 24, Worship Center, 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. The hour concludes with the lighting of candles. Childcare is not available for these services.

- Christmas Day Service, Thursday, December 25, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel. Favorite Christmas carols and a devotional time.
