City Begins Notification Campaign for Huntington Street Repairs

The city has launched a notification campaign to alert businesses to a street repair project along Huntington Drive that promises to along the thoroughfare when work begins this month.
The street resurfacing project will use federal stimulus funds to repave a segment of Huntington Drive from Magnolia Avenue to Fifth Avenue. City workers began visiting local businesses Monday to notify them of the potential traffic impact, city spokesman Dan Bell said.
"We had a big campaign go out yesterday," Bell said.

Work begins March 16, Bell said.
Business owners that the project will clog up the street and negatively affect sales. The project is expected to last four months and finish in June.

The city released a map showing the areas where traffic will be reduced to one lane on each side while work is completed. Another shorter stretch of Huntington, between Shamrock Avenue and Mountain Avenue, will also be repaired, as well as Duarte Road from Encino Avenue and Magnolia and on Grand Avenue from Greystone Avenue to Prospect Avenue.
