Come to the FTC BLOCK PARTY! at Monrovia High School

On Saturday, November 16th the Monrovia High School Robotics program hosts a Los Angeles Regional FIRST® Tech Challenge Qualifying Tournament in the Event Center at Monrovia High School. This exciting event will serve over 240 local and regional robotics students for head-to-head robotic competition fun! The tournament is free and spectator friendly (especially good for younger children).

The theme for this year’s game is FTC Block Party!™. Student’s robots must locate and place blocks on a teeter totter, raise a flag and lift themselves off the ground inside a 12’ x 12’ competition field. 

This competition gets the kids working with robots on a competitive platform with real-world engineering constraints on schedule and resources. They not only build and program robots to compete with and against other robots, but they are mentored by working engineers from their community and have a chance to learn, first-hand, the qualities and skills necessary to be successful in science & technology fields.

The MHS Robotics program will not be competing in this event but instead will be running the tournament supplying judges, referees, inspectors, and announcers. 

Opening Ceremonies begin at 10am in the Event Center. Qualifying matches are from 10:30am till 2:30pm and elimination matches go from 3:00pm till 5:00pm. 

The MHS Robotic program is made up of four teams of 6 to 10 students. Each team has its own name and identity and builds its own robot for competition. Our teams are RED (#4153), Kings & Queens (#4625), Suit Bots (#4628) and introducing for the first time our rookie team the Steam Bots (#7553). We compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge.
