The noncompetitive walk event gives dogs and their owners a chance to become involved in raising funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Monrovia. The fun-filled day starts with a walk, honoring both human and canine cancer Survivors and Therapy Dogs, then continues with demonstrations, contests and games. Bark for Life shares the theme of Relay for Life: Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. Although we like to say BITE BACK, since cancer bites!
It's a great opportunity to have fun, meet new friends, and join with your K9 family members in supporting Relay For Life. When you participate in the Bark and the Relay, you're also helping to fund cancer research, education, advocacy, and community programs for cancer patients and their families. Many of the research advances for human cancers funded by the American Cancer Society are used to treat dogs and cats with cancer, as well.
Before or after you and your dog participate in Bark For Life, please visit our Old Town Monrovia merchants. Many restaurants have outside seating and are happy to see our polite, canine pals. Two of our favorites: Peach Cafe on Colorado (near Ivy) is open before Bark, Sunday's Old Town Bistro (on Myrtle, between Colorado and lemon) open until about 5pm.
