Store items in a cool, well-ventilated place, away from natural and artificial light. A dark closet is a good choice. Hot attics, damps basements and the garage are not. A cedar chest or other air-tight containers work well for storage. Cloth or canvas also serve for hanging items.
To discourage wrinkles in sweaters, fold clothing stores and wrap in white tissue paper before storing.

Consider using mothballs to avoid insect damage. Mothballs kill larvae in an enclosed area where the odor given off is at high concentration. Dry-cleaned garments also will be protected.
Store in containers that will not disintegrate. Plastic totes or cardboard boxes work well. Luggage not being used is another good option.
It is best to line any container with white or light cotton fabric, such as old sheetsl. Never store items in dry-cleaning plastic, as it can hold moisture and cause mildew. Items can be stored in cloth or heavy plastic bags.
