Should 5th grade students view the “The Hunger
Games”? (PG 13) Parents said yes! Teachers say yes! What do you think?
The Monrovia UDS is making a big deal because 5th grade
students are attending a viewing of "The Hunger Games" this Friday, opening day. The movie is rated PG13 and yes, consent and permission slips went out to all the parents. The fifth grade class is reading the book during their language arts class and has been looking forward to this for over a month. Now...just today the teachers were told that they could not go see it because of it’s rating? What??? Is there really a policy on this? Or does the district want to control everything that goes on at each site? Does anyone know? All the tickets have been paid for... and now this! Any suggestions?
