Jake's Road House

This colorful establishment is famous in Monrovia for it's BBQ.

Overview:  in Old Town Monrovia is a fun, family-style venue known for it’s generous portions of BBQ. It’s also a great place to enjoy other all-American favorites and music in a jovial, peanut-shell crunching atmosphere. On Monday, February 28th, diners who eat from 4 pm-9 pm will have 20% of their bill donated to Monrovia’s Relay For Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society.

Décor:  The dining area has a cozy, friendly feel with green checkered table cloths and buckets of peanut shells at each table. The walls are decorated with old style "Burma Shave" signs and colorful license plates, neon beer signs, street signs and nostalgic advertisements. 

Drinks:  Domestic beers ($3.50), premium beers ($4.50) and red and white wines from Maddalena Vineyards range from $4.70-$6.70/glass.

Appetizers:  One pound of Rib Tips with BBQ sauce is available for $7.95. Other appetizers include Hot Garlic Mushrooms ($5.95), Beer Battered Zucchini or Onion Rings for $5.45, and a Bowl of Chili and Corn Muffins for $5.95

Entrees:  Baby Back Ribs cooked slowly on mesquite-fired smokers are available in a full rack ($23.95) or half rack ($18.95). Tender pulled pork or savory chicken smothered in Jake’s original BBQ sauce are featured for $12.95. Also available is the Tri-Tip plate, with tender slices of beef ($15.95). Their famous BBQ Combos include the Monster Rib Combo, which comes with a 1/2 rack of baby back ribs, 2 BBQ pork ribs and 2 BBQ beef ribs ($27.95), or Phat Mike’s Delight, with 1/2 smoked chicken, Tri-Tip, 1 BBQ pork rib, 1 BBQ beef rib, and 1 hot link sausage ($27.95).

Sandwiches and Burgers:  Jake’s Sausage Sandwiches come with a choice of Sweet Italian sausage, Smoked Polish sausage or Spicy Texas sausage, topped with grilled onions, sauerkraut and BBQ sauce and served on a steak roll for $8.45. For $8.95 you could order the Diablo, a beer battered chicken breast dipped in hot wing sauce, with lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing on a bun, or the California Sandwich, with a grilled chicken breast, jack cheese, avocado, Ortega chilies, and tomato on grilled sourdough. Burgers include the Ortega Chili Burger ($9.45), the Mushroom Burger ($9.95), Crazy Mike’s Burger, topped with pastrami, grilled bell pepper, grilled onion, and jack cheese ($10.45),  and Jake’s One Pounder, 1 lb. ground chuck with bacon, grilled onions, 3 cheeses, lettuce, tomato, mayo and Thousand Island dressing ($12.45).

Sides: French Fries, Fresh Fruit, Corn-on-the-Cob, Cole Slaw, BBQ Beans, Potato Salad, and Baked Potato are available for $2.25.

Salads: Jake’s Roadhouse offers a variety of salads, including a BBQ Chicken Salad with pulled chicken, bell pepper, onion, corn, shredded lettuce, tossed with BBQ Ranch dressing ($10.95), a Caesar Salad ($6.45) with sliced grilled chicken ($9.95), an Oriental Salad with shredded lettuce, crispy won-ton skins, chicken breast, almonds, tossed with Jake’s Rice Vinegar dressing ($10.95) and Cobb or Chef Salad ($10.95).

Desserts:  Included are malts and shakes for $3.95, Carrot Cake or Fresh Baked Cobbler ($4.95), and the Roadslide, a slice of chocolate cake with two scoops of ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream for $6.95.

Breakfast: Lemon Raspberry Pancakes ($8.45) are a favorite at breakfast, as is Strawberry Banana French Toast ($8.95), and stacks of 3-5 buttermilk pancakes ($4.95- $5.95). Sides include sausage (Italian, Polish, pork links, or Spicy Texas) for $3.75, Bacon ($3.50), Toast ($1.25), One egg ($1.49), and Fruit ($2.25). Some of their featured egg dishes include The GodFather, an omelette with Italian sausage, sautéed mushrooms, tomato and Jack cheese ($9.95), a Chili Omelette ($8.95), a Garden Omelette with spinach, mushroom, zucchini, onion, tomato and bell pepper ($9.95), Huevos Rancheros served with sliced avocado and tortillas ($8.95), Chorizo ‘n Eggs ($8.45), and the Monrovia Scramble, 3 eggs scrambled with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and Cheddar cheese ($7.95).

Service: Hostess seating on weekends; self-seating on weekdays.
