A Message From Monrovia Unified Regarding Support Resources

Dear Monrovia Unified Community, Over the last month, we have seen many changes that continue to impact our day-to-day routine. As we adapt to this new normal, I want to remind you that Monrovia Unified has a number of resources available to assist with distance learning and other challenges related to the pandemic.We are committed to keeping you informed about the latest resources available for students and families.

Listed below are sections that include links to a variety of resources:

Distance Learning

Our educators have been hard at work updating resources and links for at-home learning, which may be found on our Distance Learning Platform.Our students may have questions regarding the college application process, transcripts, academic support, and socio-emotional concerns. Counselors are available to help and may be reached by email, phone, or google meeting during office hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visit our Distance Learning Platform homepage for a District counseling team directory.

Monrovia Unified Instructional Specialists provide office hours three times a week. A link to sign-up for these webinars may be found on the Parent/Guardian Resource Page of our distance learning platform.In addition to the materials provided to you by the District, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) offers a variety of at-home learning tools that can spark your child’s interest.Through LACOE’s online student lessons, our students and families can explore the arts, mathematics, science, physical education and health, and more. You can also access virtual field trips and explore places like the San Diego Zoo and Yellowstone National Park, and even visit the Great Wall of China through a virtual tour.All of these resources will ensure your child’s distance learning experience continues to inspire them and keep them excited about their education.

Wellness

Monrovia Unified’s partnership with Care Solace provides a 24-hour virtual mental health support resource center for students who are having trouble coping.Additionally, students and parents can access the District’s Calm Resource Page which includes activities that our students and parents can do together when it’s time to wind down after a day of learning.If you are feeling elevated levels of anxiety and stress, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health has resources available 24/7:

Meals

We will continue our grab-and-go meal distribution, delivering our community’s children the daily nutrition needed to fuel their academic and personal success.We know that food is a vital resource, and it may be harder to access right now. You may also visit the Social Care Network, which includes a wider range of resources for food banks and food delivery options.Other resources for food include the following:
