The students and band boosters are also raising funds to travel to , where they have been invited to perform in February 2012. Upcoming fundraising activities include a filling a Goodwill truck with donations in September, and their 2nd annual Christmas tree drive later in the year. The program is grateful for their supporters and can also accept donations (which are 100% tax deductible) on their website, monroviamusic.org.
The MHS Band and Colorguard held the fundraiser in the midst of completing two weeks of band camp. During these two weeks, the students train for marching band, learn music and routines, and work together to perform as an ensemble. As they master techniques, they will also begin preparing for their competition field show, which will be a musical depiction of Newton’s laws of motion.
